The other day a friend of mine asked me to take some pictures during a concert of his band. Here you find the lead singer of Major Erd during their latest concert which took place in the Movie in Bielefeld.
This picture shows the view over the stunning Valle de Viñales which is located in the west of Cuba. It has a very fertile soil and the best Cuban tobacco is grown there. The small rocks are called Mogotes and are up to 400 m high.
The so called Valle de Ingenios is a very fertile valley which was used to cultivate sugar cane in former times. The landscape is overwhelming.
The second picture shows a sugar mill which was used to squeeze out the juice from the sugar cane.
The third picture shows a big tower that was used to keep the slaves, which were working on the sugar fields, under surveillance. Nowadays it’s a tourist point which offers a beautiful view over the valley.
Havanna with its two million habitants is a very colorful and versatile city. You can find a lot of old colonial buildings in all kind of states: Some are totally wracked, others look like new and a lot of them are in an in-between state and have this very charming patina for which Cuba is so popular. You will also find buildings which where influenced from Russian architecture and a lot of big monuments.
If you like old American cars from the 50th like the Buick Super Series, Cadillac Series 62 or the Pontiac Chieftain you should definitively consider planning your next holidays in Cuba. It is really like time traveling with all these old beautiful cars. Some of them look pretty old with rust stains, exhausting deep dark smoke and others look like new with perfectly polished chrome bumpers and rims and with a bright and shiny finish.
But of course Cuba has way more to see than cars. It is a amazing beautiful country with a lot of historic buildings, magnificent nature and very friendly people. All covered with a little patina, but that is for sure part of Cuba’s very own charm.
